The Power Of Humor
Philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein said: A serious and good philosophical work could be written which are entirely of jokes. Despite the buffoonish images that, when one comes to mind the joker, the clown or the pie in the face comedian believes humor is more than mere stupidity. It is an advanced intellectual means to develop new perspectives and dealing with extreme circumstances.
An abused animal has two possible responses to an abusive master: to attack, to stop the abuse, or cower/flee to avoid it. He can not disarm the bully ironically with a witty remark or imitate his master behind his back to his own pleasure. One of the first measures taken by the Nazi government in Germany was the establishment of a law against treacherous attacks on the state and party, the anti Nazi humor made an act of treason, and there was a reason for it. Research has shown that humor is the most effective means to prevent the indoctrination of brainwashing.
Used both as a shield and a weapon, humor has the power to soothe the wounded and threaten the nastiest. These qualities speak, its inherent potential, a potential that is not yet fully developed or even recognized. Holocaust survivor Email Fackenheim said, We keep our morale through humor and many other survivors of the Holocaust, POW camps, torture and ill treatment have shared his sentiment. The stories of these survivors and findings of modern medical research to support the nation that humor is to deal with an extremely effective tool for managing our advanced consciousness and the creation of new perspectives in otherwise unbearable environments or circumstances.
Evidence of the direct benefits of humor lie in studies of the body’s chemical reaction to laugh. Among other things, the laughter has been shown to reduce stress, strengthen the immune system an improve brain chemistry through the release of serotonin and endorphins. Many popular antidepressants target the neurotransmitter serotonin by blocking either the resumption or increase production, but you can self medicate with its own supply of serotonin, a funny movie, going to a comedy show or play a fun game. Rejected or dismissed workers for lovers, this self induced enhancement of serotonin activates a neurochemical reaction, their ability to tolerate the stress response and think creatively to overcome the enhanced options. Humor is a very effective way of dealing with overwhelming emotion and the control of a situation. Represented Hunter Patch Adams, the doctor of Robin Williams in the movie with his name still used laughter as a primary tool in the treatment of patients with great success. He is just one example of many that, have experienced at first hand how important humor is to report both physical and emotional health.
It has been said that the tragedy occurs where the tree, instead of bending, breaks. Amy Bishop, the University of Alabama professor who recently shot to death three colleagues and wounding three others, has often referred to as serious, intense and humorless. She had obviously lead the mind to the highest levels of society, but not the tools to cope with the associated charges. She had taken the time to develop the tool that nature gave her to deal with this stress, a sense of humor could be their three colleagues still live. Many people have opportunities to laugh a lot worse than denied tenure found, and that is a skill that is in us all .
While professor teach us what has been written by other serious scientists, comedians tell us what is going on in the world around us through a first hand report that we can immediately identify with and understand. Comedic news programs such as The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report owe their phenomenal success with the common desire to hear the truth and face the world, but in tolerable conditions. The comedian is not afraid of the fears and concern that most people try hard to conceal or deny to speak. By not just bring it into the open, but also laugh and to minimize them, is the comedian himself and his audience to dispel the touch and the hidden fears in the common light of day.
